As the fall semester begins for CU Libertas, she is filled with hope and excitement when she considers the potential impact of mentoring students at such a prominent university like Brown.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/christianunion.org\/images\/AA_Brown_Campus_.jpg\" alt=\"AA Brown Campus \" width=\"100%\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat attracted me most to the mission of Christian Union is the emphasis on discipleship in developing leaders to transform culture,\u201d she said. \u201cWe have a vast student population and we have been entrusted with the privilege to reach them for Jesus. As we answer the call to equip students for the work of the ministry, I believe we can witness another great revival in the near future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"wf_caption\" style=\"margin-top: 5px; margin-right: 15px; margin-bottom: 5px; float: left; max-width: 300px; display: inline-block;\" role=\"figure\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/christianunion.org\/images\/A_Sheri_Casali.JPG\" alt=\"A Sheri Casali\" width=\"300\" style=\"margin: initial; width: 100%;\" role=\"figure\" \/><span style=\"display: block;\">Ministry Fellow Sheri Casali<\/span><\/span>A Rhode Island native, Casali is a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God and serves as a lay counselor with her church, where she started various small groups that were focused on discipling women. Previously, she worked for several years with Brown Medicine as the Supervisor of the Division of Infectious Diseases, Inpatient Consult Service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSheri finds great joy in walking alongside women as they grow in His grace and knowledge,\u201d said Matt Woodard, Christian Union\u2019s ministry director at Brown.<\/p>\n<p>Casali, who is pursuing a Masters in Divinity at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, \u00a0said discipleship and small groups can have a lasting impact with students.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCollege years are their most formative years. It is a vital time where students can build a firm foundation in their faith in Jesus,\u201d she said. \u201cIn turn, they can be a light for their peers and lead them to the Lord, as they continue to live out their faith.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CU Libertas, currently in the midst of its <a href=\"https:\/\/stop-ed-info.com\/\" style=\"color:inherit;text-decoration:inherit;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stop-ed-info.com<\/a>, has planned various events designed to introduce students to its communiity, where they can enroll in Bible courses, attend the weekly Leadership Lectures Series and Fall Conference, and receive one-on-one mentoring.<\/p>\n<p>Because the COVID-19 pandemic basically prohibited in-person meetings during the last academic year, CU Libertas will also focus on reaching incoming sophomores, whose first year at Brown was experienced mainly online.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are anticipating our weekly schedules to be filled with one-on-one discipleship meetings,\u201d said Woodard. \u201cSo many of the young men and women are trying to process what they\u2019ve experienced over the last eighteen months. We expect robust attendance at Bible courses as well. How refreshing it will be to share a meal, discuss Scripture, and pray together!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to setting up an informational table with donuts and coffee at key locations on campus, welcoming events also include live worship sets and various evangelistic outreaches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are anticipating a great year ahead and look forward to welcoming the students back,\u201d Casali said. \u201cWe are very excited to kick off this year! Students have recently shared they are looking forward to reconnecting with CU Libertas.
