A Student’s Perspective

josh-cu-todayJosh Alexakos is a senior at Darmouth who hails from Hingham, Massachusetts. The government major keeps busy with his involvement in the Beta Alpha Omega Fraternity, Club Basketball, and as a Dream Mentor. Josh is also involved in Christian Union at Dartmouth. Recently he shared:

“I am so thankful for the mentorship and Christian teaching that Christian Union has provided for me. It has helped me to grow so much as a man, and more importantly
as a follower of Christ.

When you come to college, you come alone; and one of the biggest noticed absences is your parents. The ministry fellows here at Christian Union at Dartmouth stepped in as mentors. They showed that they care deeply about me and other students, and about our faith.

I remember going to one of the ministry fellows after an extremely challenging week during my freshman year and pouring out my heart. He listened to all of my struggles and prayed with me, and imparted powerful wisdom that helped me move forward.

I will never forget that moment, because it showed me that I had a mentor with whom I could be vulnerable — something so rare today.

None of that would have been possible without the generosity of Christian Union’s supporters. I am forever grateful.”
