Seeking God
On November 16, 2021, Christian Union Founder and President, Matt Bennett gathered virtually with Christian Union’s Cornerstone Partners from around the country to pray for America’s rescue and revival, and that the God-given mission of Christian Union would be accomplished. The evening was organized by leadership from all three branches of Christian Union’s ministry.
Dr. Chuck Hetzler, Director of Christian Union America, drew in Cornerstone Partners from the national arm of the ministry. Christine Foster, VP of Alumni Engagement, welcomed Cornerstone Partners from Christian Union’s nine university ministries. Karen Hetzler, Assistant Ministry Director of Christian Union New York, gathered Cornerstone Partners from the major cities arm of the ministry.
Before interceding for the nation together, Matt Bennett challenged and encouraged the assembly to consider the following five pivotal questions.
1. Do you believe that the situation in our nation is really that desperate?
2. Do you believe that only a visitation of God will bring change that’s needed?
3. Do you yearn for the spiritual power necessary to help bring change?
4. Do you believe that spending time seeking God will bring that power?
5. Are you willing to pay the price needed to do this? Is your love for the Lord strong enough to sacrifice?
The event culminated in a time of prayer for America and for Christian Union’s mission work. Cornerstone Partners, who prayerfully and financially support the work of Christian Union’s ministry, eagerly prayed one after another. Some wept in personal repentance and repentance on behalf of the nation. Some gave thanksgiving to God for His mercy and intervention thus far. Some petitioned God for forgiveness and a massive outpouring of His Spirit. Some prayed for the extensive and largest-in- CU history evangelistic outreaches planned on the university campuses in the spring of 2022, and all followed the Spirit as they felt led to pray.
On multiple occasions, both Christian Union leadership and Cornerstone Partners acknowledged and thanked God for the strong and persistent spiritual leadership Matt Bennett has provided to and through Christian Union to Christian leaders across the country. May the Lord fulfill His every heart’s desire in strengthening and uniting the Body of Christ to contend for our nation’s rescue and develop swaths of stout Christian leaders, and as one faithful Cornerstone Partner prayed, that “America would fulfill God’s ultimate plan and our God-given destiny as a nation.”
