Be the Church

By Michael Brown
From Christian Union
01 brown"We have put so much emphasis on going to a building, and having meetings in a building and even a form of spectator Christianity, that the crisis, the current crisis, provides us with a great opportunity to ask: what does it mean to be the Church?"

In this devotional from Christian Union Day and Night, Dr. Michael Brown reflects on what church is when church buildings are empty.

How to Fight Fear With Love

By Arthur Brooks
From The Atlantic
03 brooksThe Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu wrote in the Tao Te Ching, “Through Love, one has no fear.” More than 500 years later, Saint John the Apostle said the same thing: “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

This is a very strong argument: Love neutralizes fear. It took about 2,000 years, but contemporary neurobiological evidence has revealed that Lao Tzu and Saint John were absolutely on the money.

On the Supernatural: The Gift of Prophecy

By Matt Bennett
From Christianity Union
Harriet, a movie about the life of the famed abolitionist Harriet Tubman, was recently released in theaters, giving many a chance to know this remarkable woman for the first time. Many times in her life, God gave her supernatural, or prophetic revelation, to guide her to her destination.

But that word—canceled—has carried another connotation in our social lexicon of late. It’s used when we cancel people, not just events.

After Two Years in Captivity, Christian Schoolgirl's Example "Should Challenge Us All"

By Crux Staff
From Crux
A kidnapped Nigerian schoolgirl who refuses to renounce her faith should “inspire every Christian,” according to a leading human rights group.

Leah Sharibu was the only Christian among 110 schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamic State’s West African Province (ISWAP) on February 19, 2018 in Dapchi located in Nigeria’s Yobe state. The rest of the girls – all Muslims – have been released. Leah is still being held, since she refused to renounce her faith.

Prayer Requests

UNIVERSITY  MINISTRIES
Please pray for our ministry faculty as they prepare for the upcoming semester. Pray for wisdom and guidance on how to lead and teach students well while juggling the restrictions and challenges that come from the COVID-19 pandemic. Pray also that the Lord would minister to them in unique ways as they faithfully minister to students.

CITY MINISTRIES
Please pray with us for the many New Yorkers who are currently living outside the city and determining when or if to move back. We need men and women of faith to be part of renewing the city, especially those places which need spiritual and physical restoration. This will require boldness and courage.

DAY & NIGHT

We are calling on God to greatly increase visits to www.dayandnight.org, that more Christians will benefit from the resources available there. May the Lord use the articles and videos this ministry has produced to strengthen His people spiritually and enlarge His kingdom!
