Washington DC Hosts First Annual Reception and NYC Hosts First Worship Night

by erin conner, writer and communications associate

On a warm October evening in Arlington, VA, close to two dozen people gathered to attend Christian Union's first annual Washington, DC reception. This reception included a meet and greet for attendees to connect with other Christian Union alumni and friends of the ministry. It also hosted Carrie Sheffield, a nationally renowned columnist and broadcaster, as the guest speaker to share an overview of her recently published memoir, Motorhome Prophecies. Sheffield, a Harvard alumna and member of Christian Union America, will be serving in an advisory role for the Christian Union Washington, DC Board of Advisors.

"Launching a new chapter as part of CU Cities will develop and connect people in the key city of Washington, DC to help foster the growth of a strong Christian community and impact this influential city with the love of Christ," said Christian Union America's director Grace Ann Arvey.

Sarah Deonarain, a 2023 Harvard alumna who works in DC shared, "People need to understand how vital community is. The need for community hits you once you graduate and can not be emphasized enough. Community is so essential to our spiritual lives–it matters to have this network of people who understand your background and experiences and share in your pursuits."

Deonarain is joining with other CU alumni and friends to contribute to the Washington, DC chapter, a like-minded community of people seeking after all that God has for them and seeking to bless their city through the transformative power of God.

Christian Union's other Cities ministry, CU New York, which was established in 2012, launched its first CU Worship Night in NYC this week to unify CU alumni, friends, and believers to come together each month to worship God and exalt His Name in this influential city.
