A call for America to turn back to God with desperation, holiness, and hope.“The hour has come for you to awaken from sleep, for salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.”
— Romans 13:11-12
Why We Fast
Great moves of God are always preceded by His people praying and fasting for more of His presence and power in their lives and in their nation. This 14-day fast calls believers across America to persevere in prayer and holy longing for God’s favor, contending for the Kingdom of Light to triumph over darkness through repentance, unity, and unwavering faith.
Fasting Focus
- Zeal in the Church: For a holy hunger and awakening among believers across America.
- Repentance in the Nation: For hearts to turn from sin and return to the Lord in humility.
- Advancement of the Kingdom: For God’s light to overcome darkness in every sphere of society.
“Fasting cleanses the soul, raises the mind, subjects the flesh to the spirit, renders the heart contrite and humble.”
— St. Augustine, Sermon 210

How to Fast
Each participant should prayerfully choose their fast:
- Liquid only fast
- One-meal-a-day fast
- Water only fast
- Or a combination of the above
Biblical fasting is the voluntary giving up of food for a set period of time in order to seek God with greater focus and humility. Throughout Scripture, fasting always involves abstaining from food, not simply avoiding activities like television or social media (although that may be warranted!). The purpose is to weaken the flesh, quiet the noise of daily life, and open our hearts more fully to prayer, repentance, and the presence of God.
Ask the Lord to guide you in choosing the right type of fast, and speak with your doctor if you have any health concerns. Fasting is a physical act with a deeply spiritual purpose. It is a way of humbling ourselves before God and drawing near to Him with sincere desire. If fasting is new to you, we encourage you to explore the resources linked below to help you prepare and participate wisely. “You will not see anyone who is truly striving after his spiritual advancement who is not given to fasting and prayer.”
—St. Athanasius, Letter to Amoun
