The Bennett Broadcast Launches First Episode August 6, 2024

by Erin conner, writer and communications associate

Matt Bennett, founder and president of Christian Union and Heritage Pastors Association, is launching a new podcast to stir the hearts of Americans to seek God wholeheartedly and pray for revival. This podcast comes at a critical time in our nation's history, as many across the country long for renewal and revival, knowing that while political and cultural engagement is important, spiritual renewal must come first. God has done this in America's history and is currently transforming nations around the world. He can do it again. Bennett seeks to convey this hope in his weekly podcast, pointing the nation to God as the source of true help and healing.

Bennett, a native of Houston,  earned his B.S. and M.B.A. degrees from Cornell University and holds a Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. He worked for Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru) at Princeton University for 12 years, and developed the ministry into one of the largest in the history of the northeast. In 2002, he founded Christian Union, a ministry that has been featured in the New York Times, PBS, NPR, CBN, Christianity Today and World Magazine.

Christian Union's mission is to bring sweeping spiritual and cultural transformation to the nation by developing and networking Christian leaders to make an impact for Christ. This ministry launched first at Princeton University with a handful of students in 2002. By 2016, Christian Union had established ten ministries at universities that exert extraordinary impact on culture and society: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, Harvard Law, Princeton, Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and Yale.

In 2021, Bennett founded the Heritage Pastors Association, with its first chapter in New York City, to unite Christian pastors across denominational lines for dramatic spiritual strengthening by fervently seeking God together, as well as cooperative engagement with governmental leaders. This vision is to see pastors and their churches on fire for God, significantly advancing His purposes for the community and nation.

Bennett's new endeavor is to give hope and help to American Christians through The Bennett Broadcast, a podcast of monologues, interviews, and exhortations that include examples and tools to educate and inspire Christians to seek God wholeheartedly and pray for revival. He desires to close the gap between "Americanized" Christianity and Biblical Christianity, saying, "Christians are not called to  only do what is convenient. Second Chronicles 7: 14 is failing to occur in America not because God is failing, but because we are failing to meet the requirements God sets forth. In the same way that a person is not a child of God if he or she doesn't believe in Jesus Christ according to John 1:12 ("But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God"), God will not heal our land until His people seek Him according to His conditions." ("if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land" -2 Chronicles 7:14).

Bennett believes it is important that people have hope that God can change this nation, saying, "He has changed our nation before. He has changed other nations in an extraordinary fashion. He can do it again. People need support in understanding how and why God does this, as shown in the Scriptures."

With profound insights and passionate appeals, each episode of The Bennett Broadcast is designed to reignite faith and offer practical ways to live for Christ. Tune in to stir your spirit and be part of the revival we believe is coming!
