How I Quickly Found a Christian Community at Dartmouth

Junior Is Thankful for the Impact of CU Vox

By Peter Surin, Dartmouth ’23

When choosing which colleges to apply to, one of my requirements was the presence of a good, healthy, strong Christian community on campus.

Through research of Christian Union Vox online and a conversation with a past Dartmouth professor, I clearly saw that the Vox community was exactly what I was searching for. And when I arrived at Dartmouth, all my assumptions were assured. I showed up to an ice cream social on the lawn of Tuck Drive, and quickly sensed a healthy environment that was part of the body of Christ.

“Who Does God Say I Am?”

CU Vox Shares Good News at Dartmouth with Blog

By Tom Campisi, Managing Editor

At the beginning of the 2019-20 academic year at Dartmouth, the usual excitement surrounding a new semester was dampened by COVID-19 restrictions; only freshmen and juniors were on campus for the fall, and ministry and other organizational activities were limited to zoom or small in-person meetings.

In the midst of this uncertainty, Paul Jeon ’21, a leader with CU Vox at Dartmouth, stepped up to create blog content that focused on the sure promises of God in scripture and the question, “Who Does God Say I Am?”

Freshmen Enjoy Leadership Roles During Annual Dinner

By Anne Kerhoulas, Staff Writer

Thanksgiving was a different holiday for most people this year, but thanks to the leadership and creativity of the freshman class, Christian Union Vox’s turkey dinner was one of the highlights of a socially-distanced semester. The annual event offers a unique chance for the freshmen to lead as well as an opportunity to invite non-Christian students to share a meal and hear the Gospel. With this year’s challenges due to COVID-19, the freshmen pulled off an impressive and impactful event.

A multitude of incoming freshmen from the class of 2024 began reaching out to the Vox team via social media, interested in being a part of the Christian community. A few months later, and through the boldness of the incoming freshmen and the openness of current students and staff, sixteen members of the Class of 2024 are already seeking the Lord in Christian Union Bible Courses.

Sharing Agape Love

Campus Ministry Is Tight-Knit Community

By Luke Brown, Dartmouth ’18

Agape
Agape Christian Fellowship celebrated the seniors during their Senior Sendoff event in the spring.

Agape Christian Fellowship is providing a loving and welcoming place in which Dartmouth students can seek the Lord.

Agape, living out the meaning of its Greek name, seeks to shower the campus in God’s sacrificial love. The ministry’s vision proclaims that “even the slightest contact with agapelove transforms... Knowing God’s love brings us gently toward a joyful surrender and commitment to sacrificial love for others. God’s love creates family, and that’s what we strive to be.”

Liz Choi, Dartmouth ’20, the student president of Agape, said, “When people enter our space, I want them to feel loved and I hope that, as Christians, we can be vessels for God to use on this campus.”

Sophomore Summer

Dartmouth Christians Unite to Seek the Lord

By Lauren Curiotto, Contributing Writer

Each June, the entire rising junior class returns to Dartmouth College’s campus for what is known as Sophomore Summer. For ten weeks, students have the opportunity to try out new extracurriculars, gain momentum within their major in a more relaxed environment, and build stronger relationships with their classmates. This summer session in scenic Hanover, New Hampshire is a welcome respite from the usual academic rigor. Despite the university’s modest undergraduate population of 6,300 during the academic year, students are often too busy to dedicate as much time as they would like to connect with their peers and venture outside their familiar social circles.
