Greetings from the campus of Harvard Law School!
October is now upon us and the autumn leaves drape the Harvard campus in the bright colors for which New England is renowned. Hundreds of thousands of spectators and athletes will soon overflow the Charles River with the annual regatta races for which the city of Cambridge is famous.
Tighter schedules for returning scholars and the annual foreboding that fills the hearts of first-year students have combined to make ministry scheduling more daunting this year than before. But student interest is high, and support for our outreach much appreciated as students find opportunities to fit our ministry into the different time spaces they have available each week as they seek to balance study, friendship, marriage, parenting, church, job interviews, and law journal responsibilities alongside Bible courses, prayer, fasting, and fellowship among the Christian community at Harvard Law School.
In addition to fine messages delivered this fall by Christian faculty from Harvard Law School and the University of Georgia at our Wednesday lunch discussions, students engage in weekly study of Redeeming Law, a useful text for learning how to integrate biblical faith into the legal profession. Weekly Bible course study in the book of Romans has helped fuel their faith and deepen their understanding of the gospel of God’s grace. Personal mentoring and related times for fellowship, prayer, and worship are all being used by God to strengthen their life in Christ.
As before, please be in prayer:
- God would bless our lives together in a bond of love and unity of spiritual purpose;
- That there would be deep hunger for study of His word and interest in our times of fellowship, prayer, and fasting;
- That new students would find a circle of supportive and encouraging Christian friends both for themselves and their families
- God would bless their labors on law journals and related professional opportunities as they plan for work as clerks, partnerships in firms, public advocacy, military service, consultancy, and involvement in shaping public policy.
- God would raise up replacement personnel for the staff vacancy on the HLS team.
Your servant in Christ,
