I’m a Patriots fan. (Insert reaction here.)
All kidding aside. I love watching Patriots football, not only because of blind loyalty to the home team, but more so because I find it fascinating that when (and if) we win, the credit goes to the whole team, and not one player. My opinion is that the success of any organization is largely based upon the quality of the vision and the quality of the TEAM executing that vision.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19, 20
This is our mission, and our vision at Christian Union follows suit to "develop Christian leaders to transform culture.”
At Harvard Law, everyone believes we are in an incredible position to transform culture by the Christian leaders we are a part of developing! We’re gathering the TEAM to move “down the field.” For the first few months of being on campus, my goal has been, simply, to love on the students that I have the privilege of meeting. It’s been such an honor to not only pray for them, but with them, and encourage them weekly. My hope has been that at some point, as relational equity increases, that there will come an opportunity where we could TEAM together towards a singular vision/mission for HLS.
And through your prayers and support, that’s happening as we speak! So, below are a few prayer points for the coming month to which I would greatly appreciate your participation!
The Team - The challenge given was for the leadership team to give thought to what legacy they will leave at HLS for God’s honor. Please pray that the men that have expressed interest will be inspired and feel empowered by God’s Spirit to dream big! We want to attempt great things for God and expect great things from God.
Compelling Vision - We’re working out what the vision will be for HLS. We’re asking the right questions! And we’re also thinking outside the box, as well. Should we include spouses of HLS students into what we’re doing? How should we collaborate with other Christian ministries? Local churches? We are committed to studying the Scriptures and engaging in personal and corporate prayer. Pray that our time of planning is effective and that we would have clarity of purpose.
Spring Semester - Please pray that God would involve those in a Bible course this spring semester who need to hear the Gospel, as well as those who desire to grow deeper in their understanding of God’s Word.
Protection - And finally, please continue to pray that the Lord would protect our students at HLS. They are under a tremendous amount of pressure every week to conform to the priorities of the world around them. In some ways, it is a form of idolatry that can overtake them. PLEASE pray for the Lordship of Christ to reign every day, in every class, in every interview, and in every circumstance for those who are in Christ Jesus.
The Patriots will be playing in their 9th Super Bowl in a couple weeks (insert reaction here). If they win, not only will fans marvel at the play on the field, I believe most people will credit the TEAM of coaches and trainers off the field. We covet your prayers and your support for the Lord’s work here at HLS! YOU may be “off the field,” as you partner with us, but your prayer support will be central to what God will do on campus.
Thank you!
