Dear CU Gloria Law Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

“The essence of sin is man substituting himself for God, while the essence of salvation is God substituting himself for man. Man asserts himself against God and puts himself where only God deserves to be; God sacrifices himself for man and puts himself where only man deserves to be.”  – Fleming Rutledge, The Crucifixion

As we enter this Easter season, our eyes are fixed once again on the cross—the place where justice and mercy meet perfectly, not in abstraction but in a Person. At Harvard Law School, where many are striving to uphold the law and seek justice in a broken world, we are continually reminded that the truest justice was poured out on Christ and the deepest mercy offered through Him.

There’s no better message for law students to consider. The world will teach them to define justice in terms of power, equity, or policy. But the cross reveals a justice that is personal, sacrificial, and holy. And it reveals a mercy so wide that it covers rebels, skeptics, the proud, and the lost—including each of us. In a world often marked by outrage or indifference, we are calling students to a better way: the way of the crucified and risen King.

God at Work in Our Community
It has been a rich and meaningful season across our various gatherings and small groups. The Lord is drawing students into deeper conviction, community, and calling:

  • Midweek Study – We continue to explore the book of Jonah in community with boldness and humility, anchoring our conversations in the gospel!
  • Prayer and Worship Gatherings – At the beginning of each month, at our first midweek gathering, we are excited to worship and pray for one another, our school, and for revival!
  • CS Lewis Reading Group (Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship) – Wrestling with what it means to follow Jesus in a world of comfort, compromise, and cultural Christianity.
  • 1L Men’s Group – Digging into Galatians and James, the 1L men are embracing grace, spiritual integrity, and practical faith.
  • Women’s Group  Exploring Esther and learning to trust God’s providence, even in seasons of hiddenness or risk.

Our First-Ever Spring Banquet!
On April 2nd, we will host our inaugural CU Gloria Law Spring Banquet—a joyful evening of worship, reflection, and celebration. We’ll honor our graduating 3Ls and our outgoing student leaders, expressing gratitude for their faithfulness and commissioning them into the next chapter of life and calling. Please join us in praying that this event would glorify Christ and strengthen the bonds of community and mission among our students.

Partner with CU Gloria Law
Would you consider supporting this work in two vital ways?

  1. Pray  students would finish the year abiding in Christ, bold in witness, and grounded in gospel hope.
  2. Give  your generosity enables discipleship, leadership training, outreach, and spiritual formation at one of the most influential law schools in the world. Visit: https://www.christianunion.org/ministries/universities/harvard-law/give-to-the-ministry to become a partner today.

This is the message we carry into Harvard Law: that the One who had every right to condemn came instead to redeem. Justice satisfied. Mercy lavished. A new creation begun.

Humbly yours,

Justin Yim
