Another academic year is winding down at Harvard Law School. Classes have concluded and the students are in the midst of final exams. And yet, the horizon holds the next opportunities for these brilliant men and women to continue their legal education and begin their legal careers.
Here are some specific ways to pray:
- Summer Employment.The first and second-year students will disperse throughout the country to serve in different posts (e.g. judicial clerk, law firm intern, non-profit assistant). Along with the excitement, summer employment can bring particular burdens and the opportunity to pray for:
- Strength of mind and body for their labors;
- Grace and peace during transition;
- Friendships at work and fellowship in a local church.
- Professional Careers.The third-year students will graduate and take the first step into their professional life as lawyers. These men and women are ready to enter the “real world.” But a career in the legal profession brings its own challenges. So we can serve them by praying for:
- Courage in Christ, knowing that the same Lord who saw them through law school is always with them;
- Community in Christ, being refreshed by the presence of the Lord among his people;
- Thanksgiving to abound in their hearts as the root of joy and a guard against cynicism.
- CU Preparations for Next Year. God is doing an amazing work at HLS, and we are blessed to take part in this ministry. To be good stewards of this opportunity, we try to learn from the past and prepare well for the future. Please join us in praying for:
- Wisdom and discernment as we make specific plans this summer;
- Encouragement from the Lord, trusting that he will give us all grace as we seek to honor him;
- Favor with the new dean and administration at HLS, especially for official recognition of Coram Deo, our student-led organization.
