As you read this report, the Princeton ministry faculty, as well as around 150 Princeton undergraduate students, will be away at Camp of the Woods in Speculator, New York, for the annual “Ski Safari” winter trip. We are thrilled with the response we have gotten from students for this trip, and are excited that many students who do not yet know Jesus as Savior and Lord will be joining us as well. Our speakers for the week include Jackie Hill-Perry, a gospel-centered author, speaker, and performer who shares a powerful and dramatic testimony of God’s work in her life, and also Seth DeValve, a Princeton and CU ministry graduate who is currently playing tight-end for the Cleveland Browns of the National Football League. Seth was a vibrant part of the Princeton ministry during his years as an undergraduate student, serving as a worship team leader, and a Christian witness on the football team. He also recently became engaged to a senior female leader in the ministry. We praise God for two dynamic and Christ-centered speakers, and are asking Him to work and speak powerfully through them for the eternal good of the students who attend the retreat. We would welcome your prayers for our week of Ski Safari!
After the trip, second semester begins, and we will be returning to weekly Bible courses, Leadership Lecture Series gatherings, prayer meetings, and other fellowship gatherings on campus. During the spring semester, Freshmen Bible courses are introduced to the Seeking God Lifestyle, and also engage in a 5-week study on Sex and Spirituality. Sophomore and Junior courses will be studying the book of Acts, and Senior courses will again take part in studying the Vocational Preparation Bible course, which helps them consider the integration of their faith with their careers and callings. We also will invite several top-notch Christian speakers to our Friday night Leadership Lecture Series this spring, including Jemar Tisby, founder of the Reformed African-American Network, and Rolland Warren, president of CareNet Crisis Pregnancy Centers and new Christian Union board member. Please pray for us, this spring, as we teach Bible courses and continue to walk alongside students as they grow in Christ.
Almost every week, members of the Princeton faculty team have opportunities to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with students at Princeton who do not yet follow God. We are reminded and encouraged by Paul’s words, as we engage in this ministry week after week: “This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God” (1 Corinthians 4:1, ESV). Please pray that those of us working at Princeton would serve Christ faithfully, and steward the mysteries of God’s gospel by sharing it boldly with the students we serve.
Thank you for your prayers and partnership,
Jon Nielson
