In Malachi 3:10, the Lord says, “Test me in this . . . and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it!”
God is indeed blessing Christian Union Nova in a spectacular way this semester. I’m excited to share with you that CU Nova has hosted over 70 events with more than 1,500 student interactions. Along with you, CU Nova students and leaders have invested 200 hours of prayer, and reached our goal of 79 freshmen signed up for Bible courses!
Even our student leadership teams are growing. Twelve students joined CU Nova’s worship team this month, doubling the size of the group, and adding energy to weekly our worship experiences.
Amidst God’s generous blessing, there has also been sorrow. It’s been two weeks since the body of Misrach Ewunetie was found on campus. Many of us at CU Nova feel an array of emotions: shock, sorrow, frustration, and even fear. In response to this tragedy, CU Nova students gathered at Melrose and online to pray as a community. First, we prayed for Misrach's safety, then asked God for compassion and comfort as we grieved. We continue to pray daily for answers.
It's important that we acknowledge, and grieve Misrach’s tragic loss as a community. However, we seek to do more than grieve. We want to be present for one another in the season of loss. CU Nova’s ministry fellows and staff are available to any student seeking counsel and support. Our daily 12:1 prayer is a campus touch point where students can meet and pray for one another. The CU Nova community is available for any student who feels unsafe on campus to call on should they need a walking partner. We’re encouraged by Psalm 10:14 which reminds us God sees the trouble of the afflicted; He considers their grief and takes it in hand.
These are just a few examples of how God is using Christian Union to change lives on the Princeton campus this fall. The full Malachi 3:10 verse reads: “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord Almighty, ‘and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.”
Your prayers and financial partnership are fuel for developing future Christian leaders at Princeton. Would you pray about increasing your financial gift, and join us in praying for the following:
- The continuing expansion of the Kingdom of God here at Princeton.
- Our Hebrews Bible courses as we disciple students to trust Christ more deeply.
- CU Nova’s outreach ministry to the homeless in Trenton.
- The CU Nova faculty who serve in a dynamic university setting.
Remember, together we are Christian Union Nova and this is our ministry and community.
Warm regards in Christ,
Dr. Chris Coppernoll
Ministry Director
Christian Union Nova
PS – Would you sign up for a 15-minute daily time to pray for our nation and our churches, so that there would be ceaseless prayer through the CU 24-Hour Prayer Chain? One hundred seventy-five slots have already been filled, and CU’s goal is to have 300 intercessors. Would you be one of the one hundred twenty-five more to stand in the gap?
Please note: if you would like to receive regular updates on how to pray for Christian Union's work at Princeton, please email prayer@christianunion.org.
