Dear Prayer Partners,
As the last month came to a close, we bid farewell (and happy birthday) to Jason Entgelmeier, who after serving as the student president of Christian Union at Yale, graduated in 2017 and then worked with us as a Ministry Intern this past year. All of us on the team here love Jason dearly, and we invite you to join us in thanking God for the manifold ways He has poured into Jason and continues to form him as a Christ-like, gifted young man, and also for the exemplary work Jason has done here on campus while walking with God's Spirit. Please join us also in praying for Jason as he discerns his next steps while working back home in Kansas over the summer.
Summertime for Ministry Fellows means a different routine, with substantial time set apart for professional development, reading, and reflection. This past week, Chitra and I attended a lively conference, put on by the Yale Youth Ministry Institute, centered around joy in the midst of various forms of suffering that young people commonly face. Clay kicked off our summer study last week, introducing students who have stuck around over the break to Eugene Peterson's book, Answering God: The Psalms as Tools for Prayer. Meanwhile, Jane is enjoying some time at home with her family (little Hannah, born just before the end of the fall semester, is growing like a weed and delights us all whenever she makes an appearance at the Pennington Center). Please pray for all of us that this season would be one of deep fellowship with God, that we would use the time well to reflect on the past year, learn, refuel and be ready to come into the fall with fresh insight and in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pray also for our students scattered far and wide over the summer, that being away from Yale and the rhythms of life here would not mean slipping out of the good habits and spiritual practices they've adopted over the course of the year, but rather that they would likewise enjoy a time of healthy restoration, fellowship with friends and family, and intimacy with the Lord. Pray that they might grow stronger in those spiritual disciplines that have been a help to them, and that they might use the break to walk free of any unhealthy patterns they may have fallen into at school. And finally, please pray for the incoming class, that God prepare their hearts and minds for a productive and deeply enriching course of study here, and that we and our sister ministries on campus would welcome as many of them as possible into our fellowship to be formed by the Word of God and the work of the Spirit in our community.
For all your prayers and support, and on behalf of all of us here, thank you. May God bless you and reveal Himself to you ever more fully in Christ Jesus.
