We have much to thank God for since we last wrote to you. Our family has grown!
When we hear our beloved freshmen say that the “CU Lux community feels like it is a home away from home,” our hearts are warmed.
What does home at CU Lux look like?
Well for one, our physical space is a big draw. 'The Mouse’ is a place where students can meet with each other, study the word of God in Bible courses, worship, pray, fast, feast, play games, cook, bake and even doze off on the comfy couch wrapped in a cozy blanket. The space is safe, familiar, and theirs. The magic of home happens when lives are lovingly shared with each other and God is honored as our chief Host.
Fall Retreat came at the right time. It was an opportunity to get away from campus to a place of woods and lake. A time to pause with the Lord and each other. A time to have fun and play crazy team games. A time to be alone with the word and pray. A time to weed out the stuff that gets in the way of our growth in the Lord.
Bible course groups are diving deep into the meaty book of Hebrews. All our Assistant Bible Course student leaders (ABCLs) are doing a sterling job, encouraged and coached regularly by ministry fellows. A special shout out to our Freshmen ABCLs who are upperclassmen. They have sacrificed their precious time to build relationships and help lead their courses.
Friday evening's large group, called Rooted, has been fun and rich. It is a time when we break fast together and partake in a meal, worship, listen to a visiting speaker or share what we’ve been learning together as a community. One such session facilitated by our capable Rooted team reinforced some of the messages of Hebrews—of holding fast to our faith in Jesus and taking great care not to drift away.
At a prayer and ministry night, the DiMarco's, gave a special word of encouragement to almost every student present. This was a powerful and tender evening. One student remarked that he had encountered God as he was being prayed for and emerged from it believing!
The outreach team initiated a campus kindness effort last week which had an encouraging turnout. Students on campus stopped to offload their burdens and worries in a burden jar and in exchange were offered a Bible promise and a donut! There will be follow-up with those interested in finding out more.
Fostering relationships is key in building and protecting a family. Social team leaders initiate creative events. Some examples are, ‘Study hall’ with snacks where students are invited to study together in the same space. ‘Lunch Tags’ encourage all members to meet one on one over a meal and take a fun photo to help promote a supportive and loving family.
We are grateful for our committed and excellent student leaders who seek to follow the Lord faithfully. They have been led by our humble and hard-working student executive members who have been incredibly steady in setting a wonderful example of godly leadership.
Please pray for,

PS – Would you sign up for a 15-minute daily time to pray for our nation and our churches, so that there would be ceaseless prayer through the CU 24-Hour Prayer Chain? One hundred seventy-five slots have already been filled, and CU’s goal is to have 300 intercessors. Would you be one of the one hundred twenty-five more to stand in the gap?
