We are reaching out to share the latest happenings at Christian Union Lux and to invite you to continue praying for these vibrant students ministering here at Yale.
October brought us so much joy, which we are excited to share with you. We started with record-breaking attendance for the fall retreat. We had roughly 57 in attendance, where Dimas Salaberios shared the need for total surrender to Christ while God is forming you here at Yale.
The fantastic and critical retreat allowed momentum to form deep relationships through small groups, prayer, and enriching community. The outflow of this time together showed in ways that metrics and numbers could not explain. We have seen all grades, from Freshman to Senior, connect and share tangible ways the Lord is stretching and growing them through communities like CU Lux.
Let me share a few other events where your prayers have been answered at CU Lux.
Wednesday Cross Campus Prayer
Each week, our outreach team takes one hour to pray for the campus and anyone who needs prayer in the center of Cross-Campus. These brave souls are hearing the call of the Lord, girding up boldness and courage to share the gospel each week with strangers on their way to class. This time includes opportunities to encourage, uplift, and motivate others to seek God for a relationship and pray for those feeling lowly and lost.
"Rooted" Leadership Lecture Series
Every Friday night, we gather for 'Rooted,' our leadership lecture series. Rooted is a sacred time of worship, learning, and community. We are blessed with insightful talks from our Ministry Fellows and guest speakers such as the VP of Yale Facilities, Mike Bellamy, who inspire and equip us for God's calling in various fields. Please pray for the speakers' preparation and the hearts of all attendees that we may grow in knowledge and confidence in the Lord's calling.
Friday Fasting
Each Friday, we also observe a communal fast until our Rooted family dinner at 6:00 p.m. This spiritual discipline has been a profound time of reflection and fellowship for many, from seasoned fasters to those new to this practice. Pray with us for continued spiritual insights and unity as we explore the significance of fasting together.
Sunday Brunch Fellowship
Post-church brunch at Branford College has become a cherished tradition, allowing us to share food and fellowship. This time strengthens bonds within our community and serves as a beacon of Christian love and hospitality. We invite you to lift these initiatives before the Lord so that He may continue to bless and grow our community in faith and fellowship.
Looking forward to November
In light of the recent atrocities in Israel as well as the trickle down effects of protests and antisemitic rhetoric on campus, we ask for your prayers in additional ways we can build leaders at CU Lux. If you missed the recent article in Christianity Today highlighting Christian Union and other ministries' campus responses to the Israel-Hamas war, feel free to read it here.
It would be a blessing to the ministry if you would also consider a one-time or recurring gift to support what God is doing at CU Lux and to make Christ known at Yale using this secure link: https://www.christianunion.org/cornerstone/lux
Thank you for developing and connecting Christian leaders to transform culture at Yale for God's glory. We couldn't do it without you and your support!
