Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission

From The New York Times; BreakPoint.org; and Issuesetc.org

This week, the United States Supreme Court announced a 7-2 decision in the case of Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission. Here are five perspectives — and many more are out there — on the case: a New York Times op-ed written back in December by Robert P. George, the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence at Princeton University, and Sherif Girgis, a graduate of Yale Law School and PhD candidate in philosophy at Princeton University; a First Things column by Hadley Arkes, the Ney Professor of Jurisprudence Emeritus at Amherst College; a National Review article by David French; a BreakPoint broadcast on the decision, from Monday; and finally, an Issues, Etc. podcast featuring an interview on the case with the William E. Simon Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, Dr. Ryan T. Anderson.

For those enmeshed in the culture of confusion, the book offers a way to untangle oneself and find hope in the clarity that Christ offers."

War of the Words

By Zachary Lee
From Cornell Claritas

05 words

"Clearly," the authors of this interesting article in the Harvard Business Review write, "interacting with our smartphones affects our experiences. But can our smartphones affect us even when we aren’t interacting with them — when they are simply nearby?"

Prayer Requests

UNIVERSITY MINISTRIES

Pray for Christian Union as it seeks to fill a couple of key positions in our Universities ministry for the fall.

CITY MINISTRIES
CU Cities is gearing up for our conference happening June 22-23 in NYC, and blessed by the wonderful group of RSVPs we have and counting. Please pray that God draws all the right people for the weekend and leads and fills our final preparations. Pray for our budding ministry in DC, as well, we are so blessed by the growing community God is building there!

DAY & NIGHT
We are praising God for the many testimonies of God at work during The Great Experiment, which ended May 31 and involved more than 2,200 people seeking the Lord in very intentional ways. Pray for God to direct our steps as we prepare to lead Christians across America in the next initiative, a 21-day fast, scheduled to begin August 13.
