But for a cadre of business owners integrating faith within their businesses for a Business as a Ministry (BaaM) operating system, that only scratches the surface of their stewardship.
A steward is responsible to manage an asset on someone’s behalf. While work is often compartmentalized from faith, stewardship for Christian leaders demands seeing their entire businesses as belonging to God. They operate according to His standards and values and integrate biblical principles in everything from choosing health care plans to finding ways to show the love of Christ to His people. As business owners oversee people and resources, they are not only tending to others’ welfare and wallets but also to their eternal wellbeing.
Initiating a Climate Change Conversation

Students from Christian Union Libertas were part of a team that organized a thought-provoking Veritas Forum on climate change at Brown University in the spring semester. On March 6, approximately a hundred students and staff from the campus community gathered at MacMillan Hall for an event entitled “Have We Sold Our Future? Climate Change, Commodification, and Our Responsibility.”
The Veritas Forum featured a conversation between Norman Wirzba, the Gilbert T. Rowe Distinguished Professor of Christian Theology at Duke University, and Dr. Alex Poterack, a lecturer in the Economics Department at Brown. Elizabeth Lord, a visiting lecturer in Environment and Society at Brown, was the moderator.

Two Men, Two Ministries, Two Lives Well-Lived

The month of May has seen the loss of two remarkable men, each of whom was used powerfully by God in very different ways. Ravi Zacharias had a worldwide ministry writing, speaking, and brilliantly showing the world the rationality of the Christian faith. He founded Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, which will carry on his life's work. Ken Melrose, the former CEO of Toro, also passed away in May. Ken lived for Christ, kept Christ first in his business, allowed his faith to profoundly shape how he led, and gave away millions to accelerate the advancement of the Gospel. Another article in this newsletter talked about business as a ministry. Any businessperson would do well to emulate the way Ken led Toro. We honor both men as they each are now home with the Lord.
