You Can't Be a Saint by Yourself

By Megan Hill
From The Gospel Coalition
When I was a college student, continuing the pattern of my childhood, I resolved to set aside Sunday for worship and rest (Ex. 20:8–11). I didn’t work—writing papers, studying for exams, completing reading assignments, drafting lab reports—on the Lord’s Day. This was not an easy resolution. All around me, fellow students used their Sundays to catch up on homework and laundry. While I went to church, they went to the library. While I read my Bible, they studied together for Monday’s quiz.

This could’ve been lonely. But I wasn’t alone.

The Disturbing Lack of Christian Audacity

By Adam Griffin
From The Village Church
It is astonishing how a massive body of people who follow history’s most non-conformist leader now struggle to resist conforming to a world that distracts from and rejects all they stand for. Out of everything Jesus taught, preparedness for being unmistakably different was one of the lessons most common to His ministry. Yet it is one disturbingly lacking in our generation.

What Was the Azusa Street Revival?

From CU Day and Night

05 revivThe Azusa Street Revival is not commonly considered one of America’s great revivals like the First (1730-1755) and Second (1790-1840) Great Awakenings because it did not affect the nation on a broad scale. However, Azusa Street may have had the largest worldwide impact of any revival that began in the United States.

Prayer Requests

UNIVERSITY  MINISTRIES
Please pray for our students as the election approaches. For many of them, this is the first election in which they are able to vote and many are feeling the burden of such responsibility. Pray that our students would trust in the Lord more than any earthly establishment, but that they would also put their faith into action as they witness to Christ on their campuses. Pray also for our ministry faculty that will be bearing a heavy burden of counseling students after the election.

CITY MINISTRIES
Please pray that NYC will be protected during and after the election. Pray that Christians in the city will be peacemakers and point their co-workers, doormen, neighbors, Uber drivers, and loved ones to the gospel. Jesus is our sure hope. “When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles." Psalm 34:17

DAY & NIGHT

Pray for our nation as we head into national elections. Pray for wisdom in voting, for elected officials who will rule rightly, and for God’s mercy upon our nation. Pray also for a peaceful response to the outcome of the elections. To God be the glory!

Talk Back

Thank God for the way that his Church throughout the nation embraced repentance and prayer through CU Day and Night’s "Seeking God in September" and "The Return" and "Prayer March" in Washington D.C. Pray for the Lord to work these ideals into American Christians even more until we are fully alive for Christ.
