I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
—  Ephesians 4:1-7

The Plausibility of Miracles in a Materialistic Age

By Craig Keener
From YouTube
keenerIn his public lecture, New Testament scholar and author, Craig Keener, noted that most modern prejudice against biblical miracle reports depends on David Hume’s argument that uniform human experience leads us to never expecting miracles. Keener looked at the question of whether there are some credible med-blog.com for miracles today, and gave story after story of historical and current day miracles – many hand in hand with ground breaking evangelism throughout the world.

The Underwhelming God

By Greg Morse
From Desiring God
The church’s teaching was not positively unsound. I heard no heresy. I also had no reason to question the pastor’s salvation or the genuineness of his heart for people. He was a good man if not a good pastor. But the teaching was out of joint and out of proportion. Each service had something about Christ, grace, faith, repentance, and holiness, but not as the real thing found in the Scriptures. Christianity, if it could still be so called, walked every Sunday through a carnival of mirrors.

Distance Makes the Heart Dig Deeper

By Anne Kerhoulas
From Christian Union
brownThe women of Christian Union Libertas at Brown University are using this season to dig deep. Although the current fall semester is very different than in previous years, with no freshmen on campus, no large group Leadership Lecture Series, and most students taking classes remotely, the women’s side of the ministry has found ways to deepen their connections with one another.

Salting the World

By Chuck Hetzler
From Christian Union Day and Night
Our nation needs us. Jesus said that His disciples are the only preservative agent (salt) on earth. Our country is spoiling and wasting away. Actually, the stench of our land has been getting stronger for some time. May the life of Christ in us revive and our salt restore a decaying world.

Malcolm Gladwell: How I Rediscovered Faith
From Relevant

GladwellI was raised in a Christian home in southwestern Ontario. My parents took time each morning to read the Bible and pray. Both my brothers are devout. My sister-in-law is a Mennonite pastor. I have had a different experience from the rest of the family. I was the only one to move away from Canada. And I have even been the only one to move away from the Church.

I attended Washington Community Fellowship when I lived in Washington D.C. But once I moved to New York I stopped attending any kind of religious fellowship. I have often wondered why it happened that way? Why had I wandered off the path taken by the rest of my family?

What I understand now is that I was one of those who did not appreciate the weapons of the spirit.

Mentored by the Dead

By Jamie Quatro
From Image Journal
My suspicion is that most of you students are feeling somewhat anxious about the future. What will the world look like next week, or next month, or even next year, when every hour we’re receiving more news of infection, death, and sociopolitical upheaval? In the midst of a viral pandemic that has shuttered schools and universities, caused the markets to plunge, locked down entire countries and infected one of America’s most beloved actors, why spend an evening listening to a fiction writer speak about the ways she’s been mentored by a famous dead author?

Prayer Requests

UNIVERSITY  MINISTRIES
Please pray that the students who participate in CU ministries would finish their semester well. As the semester begins to wind down, pray that they would continue to pursue the Lord with the same intensity that they devote to their academics.

CITY MINISTRIES
Please pray that the church in NYC will be strong in truth and love. Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide us in His ways. Beseech the Lord that as we, the Bride of Christ in NYC, lead our respective industries and ministries with truth, love, and courage. Pray that God Himself will preserve our cherished Christian unity in times of potential crisis. Lastly, please pray that we can soon host in-person events safely and finally share in fellowship together again!

DAY & NIGHT

Pray for a godly posture among American Christians as it pertains to the election. Let’s pray for election integrity, the legal process, and peace in the outcome. Above all, let’s pray for and work for the advancement of God’s eternal kingdom in our country.

Talk Back

Thank God for the way that his Church throughout the nation embraced repentance and prayer through CU Day and Night’s "Seeking God in September" and "The Return" and "Prayer March" in Washington D.C. Pray for the Lord to work these ideals into American Christians even more until we are fully alive for Christ.
