Friends,
Spring semester is well underway here at Brown University, and we are keeping plenty busy with Bible Courses, our weekly lecture series, The Anchor, community and outreach events and much more.
We kicked off the semester with our annual Winter Retreat. 16 students, along with Christian Union at Brown ministry staff, spent a long weekend up at Singing Hills Christian Camp in New Hampshire. The weekend was focused on being on mission with Jesus, and the call to join Him in making the Kingdom visible on campus and beyond. Though this was one of our smaller retreats in terms of the number of students who joined us, it was probably the most powerful and significant retreat to date. Students felt they were able to experience God and community in ways they haven’t in retreats past, and a few described the weekend as a transformational moment in their faith. Praise be to God!
As we near the end of February, we would love for you to pray with us for the following:
- Bible Courses: This semester we are working our way through the Book of Acts with our sophomores and juniors. This exciting book has the potential to challenge our students, moving them out of comfort into greater areas of trust as they live out the realities of the gospel on campus. In the meantime, our freshmen are working their way through a five-week study on seeking God and another called, “Sex and Spirituality.” Pray that, whichever study the students are working through, the Holy Spirit would light a fire within them, that as their minds and hearts are filled with the truth of the gospel, their lives would reflect that inner-transformation.
- Student Leadership: If you have been on this prayer email for long, you will remember that every spring we transition from one student leadership team to another. Well, tis the season once again. Please pray that God would grant us, the ministry staff, wisdom as we guide our students in choosing the next leadership team. Pray that this new leadership team, which will officially begin their new roles mid to late March, will humbly follow Jesus as they seek to serve this campus in His name.
As always, we are thankful for you! As you continue to pray alongside us, please feel free to respond to this email with any prayer requests of your own. We would love to be praying for you as well!
May the love of the Father, made visible to us most fully in His Son, wash over you by the power of His Spirit so that you may faithfully serve and worship Him today and every day!
Grace and Peace,
