Friends,
Students are currently scattered around the globe enjoying some rest and relaxation during Brown University’s spring break. Once they return to campus, we’ll have four more weeks with them before they move into reading/exam period. Hard to believe the end of the semester is so close at hand!
God has been up to a lot here amongst our Christian Union community, but I’d like to share one story as a highlight. On the last weekend in February, we took 30 students to our annual Nexus Conference in New Brunswick, New Jersey. This conference gathers students from all the Ivies along with Stanford for a weekend of teaching, worship and community building. This is the first year we had so many students join us, and it proved to be an incredible experience for many of them. One student, Emily, who helped facilitate and lead prayer times at the conference, came back to campus fired up about seeking God, not just on her own, but as a community. She shared how thankful she was to have the opportunity to attend Nexus, and that thankfulness has translated into a desire to create spaces on Brown’s campus for the Christian community to gather and intentionally seek after God together.
While celebrating the many ways God has been at work here on Brown’s campus, we’d ask for you to join us in praying for the following:
Leadership Transition
The time has come once again for our current student leaders to hand the reigns over to a new group charged with leading the ministry during the 2018/19 school year. Please pray for the current Executive Team as they seek God’s guidance in choosing the new group of executives and, in turn, as those new executives invite other students to be a part of the leadership team, a team of students that overseas various aspects of the ministry, including the Outreach, Service, Community, Anchor (our weekly large-group gathering) and Seeking God Teams.
New Members of our Ministry Staff
Earlier this month, Laurel, Ministry Fellow with Christian Union at Brown, and her husband, Chip, welcomed twin boys into their family. The babies are healthy, and mom is doing great, even if she and Chip are severely sleep deprived! Please pray for the Copp family as they settle in as a new family of six (Laurel and Chip also have two little girls, Eva and Phoebe).
As always, thank you for praying with and for us. May the Lord continue to strengthen you as you seek to make him known in the world around you!
In Christ,
Justin Doyle
Ministry Fellow
