All is quiet here on Brown’s campus. Students are still away for winter break but will soon return to begin the spring semester. Given the absence of students on campus, we don’t have much in the way of stories or updates, but would love if you would join us in praying for the following:
Upcoming Bible Courses
As this new semester begins, there will be a lot going on within our community. Sophomores and juniors will begin their study of the Book of Acts, freshmen the Seeking God Lifestyle and Sex and Spirituality Bible Courses, and our seniors the Vocational Preparation Bible Course. That’s a lot of content to prepare for ministry staff and volunteers, so please pray for us – that God would be gracious to us as we prepare, that the Spirit would guide us so that we would be clear and accurate in our teachings while also meeting the real needs of the students who sit in our weekly Bible Courses. Pray too, for our students who will join one of these Bible Courses – that God would prepare their hearts and minds for these studies, that they would grow in depth of knowledge of God and His gospel, and that their hearts, desires and actions would be transformed through study of the Word in community.
Leadership Transition
Along with Bible Courses, each spring we begin the process of student leadership transition. At some point in February our current Executive Team, consisting of four students, will choose a new Executive Team for next year. That new group of executives will then choose the new leadership team. All of this will be finished by mid to late March so that we can begin training by early April before students leave for the summer. Please pray for guidance and wisdom for students and staff during this transition. Pray that we would hear the Spirit as we consider potential student-leaders for this next year – for His glory and the good of the students on this campus.
Student Outreach
The beginning of the spring semester provides a great opportunity for us as a community to reach students on campus with the hope of the gospel – to invite students into Christ-centered community, to go to them and serve them in the name of Jesus. Pray the Spirit would fill our hearts with a desire to reach those who are far from God on Brown’s campus, that He would empower and embolden us to witness to the truth and grace of the gospel, both in word and in deed. Pray that our Bible Courses would fill up with students who are at various points on their faith-journey so that they might be rooted in Jesus to make Him known around campus and beyond.
May you feel the embrace of the Father, enjoy the friendship of the Son, and hear the guiding voice of the Spirit in this new year. Thank you for your love and support!
In Christ,
