Dear CU Libertas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Providence!

We are in the middle of working around the clock on our month-long freshman welcoming events, but wanted to share prayer requests and some news.

Last week, Christian Union Libertas students met on campus before convocation to pray for the 2028 class and give out Del's lemonade. Students at Brown only pass through the Van Wickle gates two times: at convocation and graduation, while the church bells from First Baptist Church are ringing. We were blessed to be there meeting many familiar and new faces!

We hosted various events from a Chiptole block party, outdoor worship night with smores, games on the Green and movie night. The first year students were all so excited to find a lively Christian community here at Brown. One evening at our outdoor worship night, two freshman students, Ella and Max, asked if they could help clean up. Of course this is always a welcomed gesture after a large group event. As we talked while cleaning up, they mentioned how grateful they were to find a group of Christians on campus. Max said he felt very welcomed and he was enjoying getting to know everyone. Ella mentioned that she loved the community and has “found her home with us.” This is a testament to the love and prayers poured out for the class of 2028 from our student ministry team. They have been dedicated to serve their peers.

Our Bible courses are up and running and Sydney and Liz, the freshman girls Bible course leaders, commented that the class of 2028 is “on fire for God.” They mentioned that the girls are excited to be there, actively participating and consistent in their relationship with Jesus. It brings us great joy to see this freshman class practicing spiritual disciplines as they honor Jesus with their lives.

CU Libertas Team Leaders

In addition to student leaders sharing their faith through events and Bible courses, they have also been meeting up with freshmen for one on one meetings. Our vice president, Amaya, recently met with a first year student, Claire. Amaya said Claire is a perfect fit to help serve on our leadership team. Not only is her love for Jesus shining forth, she has prior ministry experience serving at her local church. She is gifted in evangelism and will be helping to serve the students at Brown on our outreach team! This will give her the opportunity to be out in the fields at Brown to share the gospel and make Jesus Christ the most talked about name on campus.

We believe one student at a time, with this kind of zeal for the Lord, will help usher in a mighty harvest of souls.

Prayer requests:

  1. Please pray for the Holy Spirit to convict hearts that have strayed from the Lord to return and find our community. Also prayer for those who have never heard the Gospel that through our efforts of sharing the love of Jesus on campus, that they would come to know Him this year.
  2. Please pray for retention in our Bible courses. That students would make it a priority to commit to the Book of Mark this semester and in that, also form deeper relationships that will help keep them accountable.
  3. Lastly, please pray that the Lord would send revival to Brown! We believe the soil that has been cultivated through the freshman campaign is ripe for harvest this fall semester!

Thank you for your love and prayers. We are so grateful for your partnership with our ministry!

Your support changes students' lives at Brown.

In Christ,
