Greetings from Hanover and Christian Union Vox. We just finished our summer term (virtually) and have a two-week break before the start of the fall term and the beginning of another academic year. It would be an understatement to say this year will be different here in Hanover. Only half of the student body will be on campus this fall with both freshmen and juniors returning to Hanover. There will not be any fall sports, clubs have been curtailed, and large-scale gatherings are on hold. Campus life will look vastly different and the traffic on the Dartmouth green will be diminished. In spite of these challenges there is much to rejoice over and much work to be done. Please be praying for us in these specific ways:
- Pray for our incoming freshmen, the class of 2024. We want to help make their transition to college life smooth and show them what Christian community looks like. Pray for ready leaders, willing disciples, and open hearts in the class of 2024. With mandatory quarantines and social distancing requirements, pray for our creativity as we find ways to connect with them in real and meaningful ways.
- Pray for our student leaders as they will be shouldering a greater burden this year. The pandemic and the resulting economic challenges forced the layoffs of three beloved colleagues, leaving us with only one staff member. Pray that our current students would continue to be focused on others and grant them even greater capacity for ministry efforts.
- Pray for me as I run this ministry alone for now. I am blessed to have and encouraged by our incredible student leaders, but my calendar will be full and my stamina will be taxed.
- Pray for all our students who are struggling with loss, economic difficulty, racial tension, and shattered expectations. There is a great deal of hurt and brokenness and the one answer for that is Jesus. Bring comfort to the strugglers, answers to the questioners, and hope to the downcast.
