Dear CU Gloria Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,
“But I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what has been entrusted to me.”
-2 Timothy 1:12
Spring is attempting to make a breakthrough in Cambridge; the daylight is lengthening; days are getting warmer, and all our hearts are encouraged. I believe the Spirit is showing up in similar ways at Christian Union Gloria. God is moving at Harvard! Hallelujah, and thanks be to our Lord Jesus. This semester has already been quite eventful, and we see the Lord stirring the hearts of those among our fellowship.
God has indeed kept and guarded us and our students here at Harvard. The transition into the second semester of the academic year always poses new questions and challenges. How do we continue the momentum from the previous semester? Will students return and continue to prioritize their faith? What unique challenges will arise on campus for our students this year? As we have all learned so much in the last year, the Lord has reminded me that in all things, we can trust God as we go to Him in prayer. As we on faculty as well as our students have leaned in to seeking the presence of God, He has been faithful.
Our freshman Bible courses are flourishing, with almost all students from last semester committing again to this spring. As mentioned before, our focus for the spring semester is on teaching them how to truly seek God at Harvard as well as how to live in His created purposes for sexuality. Both of these subjects are of great impact on such a busy and licentious campus, but we see the people of God pressing in. Not only that, but many of our students encountered God in a deep and personal way when they visited Yale’s campus for a worship and evangelism event. We see the effects of the Spirit’s work in them through increased boldness and sacrifice to see Christ’s name proclaimed on campus, and we are deeply thankful!
Paul’s words to Timothy quoted above are cause for an increase in comfort and in faith. We believe that God has truly entrusted Christian Union Gloria with these precious students, that we might disciple them and spur them on to good works. We see God pouring out His grace as we decide to trust Him! Please join me in praying for our students in these ways, inspired by 2 Timothy 2:12:
- Pray that our students would be unashamed of the gospel. We are teaching heavily on evangelism this semester and will be hosting at least two high-profile speakers on campus to attract people to hear the gospel message. We deeply desire your prayers for our students as they invite friends and also for logistical success.
- Pray that our students would seek and know God. That the fire burning in their hearts would not be quenched but that they would press on in prayer, fasting, worship, and other disciplines that we walked through last semester. Pray that they would each encounter the Holy Spirit in a genuine and personal way!
- Pray that our students would put full trust and hope in the God of their salvation. We desire to see students at Harvard to profess their faith in Christ and have life-changing encounters with the Holy Spirit!
As we continue on to the end of the semester, I also ask that you remain prayerful about how the Lord would have you continue to partner with Christian Union Gloria in this Gospel ministry. We are deeply grateful for your prayers and continued financial giving, and may God continue to bless you so that you can be a blessing to others!
With joy,
