Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:1
Currently, our team is preparing for a campus-wide campaign to expose students to the gospel in a meaningful way. I, along with the newly appointed student leaders, are praying and strategizing on how to best facilitate this multi-tiered campaign. We know that God’s desire to have the gospel spread across Penn’s campus is greater than our own, and we are simply praying to partner with God in His work. We trust that as we proclaim the gospel it will be met with God’s power and promise (Isaiah 55:8-11).
Even as we prepare to proclaim the gospel, we are actively seeing it unfold in our midst as students reach out to share the gospel in tangible ways. One example is a student who does sidewalk ministry in front of an abortion clinic in Philadelphia. During one encounter the student was able to minister to a woman who was considering abortion, but by showing tangible love, was able to help the mother keep her baby. Here’s how the student described it:
“At Planned Parenthood this morning, we spoke to a mother named ‘K’ who has a sick five-month-old in the hospital and found out she is pregnant with another baby. She was at Planned Parenthood for an ultrasound and was considering abortion, but was hesitant. Sounds like she was mostly worried about how she is going to take care of herself and her family, so we assured her that we would love to help her with any financial and practical needs. I have her number and have been texting her all morning. We also put her in contact with a friend of ours who is a pro-life OB/GYN. She just found out that she is fourteen weeks along and is keeping her baby!”In this powerful story, God revealed Himself through the gospel, and we, as God’s ambassadors, join in His work to transform lives forever. We ask that you pray that God’s word would spread, be honored, and that people’s lives would forever be transformed as we seek to spread the gospel at Penn in meaningful ways.
