Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Penn! Hope this finds you well.

I’m excited to say that we have 13 Bible courses running. Students are finding community, digging into the scriptures, and growing in their faith. I’ve also talked with several freshmen that are enjoying and being encouraged and challenged in their Bible courses. Many of them are also enjoying the relational bonds within their Bible course.

Our Philia (Leadership Lecture Series) has also been off to a great start. Students have experienced a church panel where we brought out pastors from six local churches. Aside from the amazing Q&A we had, this event had a great impact from the unity it created, encouragement in the faith, and getting our new Martus students connected to a local church quickly in the year. We also had an amazing presentation at Philia instructing students on how to read and interpret the scriptures. There are other great Philia meetings ahead, such as hearing from my good friend from Accra, Ghana who is involved with developing leaders worldwide. Students will hear from him on the topic of how integrity is essential to leadership. With this great topic, and the ones covered so far, we are intentionally building foundations that will equip these students to be Christian Leaders at Penn and across our nation once they graduate.

CU Martus Fall Retreat 2022

There are three main activities to keep in prayer for the future:

  1. We are actively working to regularly publish the gospel in the school paper, The Daily Pennsylvanian. If things go as planned, we will be publishing our first article within the next few weeks. Please pray that we can get these articles published and that, “the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored” (2 Thes 3:1).
  2. Our Seeking God Lifestyle team is planning a 24-hour prayer and fasting event in November which will end with a night of worship at a local church. We’re seeking to engage our students in seeking God wholeheartedly and also invite other Christian organizations at Penn to join us for the worship night as we seek God for our campus. Please pray that students will hunger for the Lord and that the Father will pour out his Spirit as we seek him (Luke 11:13).
  3. A goal since I started here at Penn has been to create a Bible course for our ROTC cadets. I’m currently working with two amazing Martus students who are in ROTC here at Penn and momentum is building. Please pray that this momentum turns into action with our students. This will give us an opportunity to make disciples and solid Christian Leaders who will go on to impact our US Military, which is in desperate need of solid Christian Leadership.

Finally, please continue to pray for a Women’s Ministry Fellow. There is a harvest here at Penn, please join me in praying - “therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matt 9:38).

Blessings,

PS – Would you sign up for a 15-minute daily time to pray for our nation and our churches, so that there would be ceaseless prayer through the CU 24-Hour Prayer Chain? One hundred seventy-five slots have already been filled, and CU’s goal is to have 300 intercessors. Would you be one of the one hundred twenty-five more to stand in the gap?
