We have had a great inaugural quarter here as Christian Union Caritas -- Christian Union's ministry to students at Stanford -- launched its first West Coast campus! There is much to be thankful for this Christmas season, and we look forward to our continued partnership in what God is doing on this campus.
Please join us in prayer this season for the following:
- Freshmen Bible Course: Through the fall quarter we have had about a dozen freshmen guys connect through our Bible course studying the Gospel of Mark. This group represents a mix of spiritual backgrounds, but for each one of them it was their first time reading through Mark. Praise God for the way He met with this group on Sunday nights, and how several of them grew in their knowledge and hunger for the Word.
- Student Leadership: Toward the end of the quarter we identified four freshmen guys who demonstrated a passion for God and enthusiasm for the vision of Christian Union Caritas. We challenged each of these young men to prayerfully consider making a commitment to being part of a leadership team. This is no small task as, among other things, it will be their responsibility to pursue the application process to become recognized as a student organization on campus. Please pray for their discernment as they consider this challenge, for their own individual growth, and for the process of seeking recognition from the school administration.
- Christian Union Caritas Faculty: Please pray for Ministry Fellow Justin Woyak and his wife, Kate, as they continue to establish a new life as a young family in the Bay Area. Pray for Garrett Brown and his wife, Susan, as they have made a transition from local church pastoral ministry to directing this campus ministry. Pray for the right leaders, in God’s timing, as we seek to connect with female students in the coming year.
- Winter Quarter: Looking forward to the next quarter, we ask for prayer for the continuing growth of our current students. Also, we will take students on a ski trip in January. Please pray for what we hope to be a meaningful time of connecting more deeply, spending time in the Word and prayer, and hitting the slopes. Please pray for some of the students on the fringe to make steps toward committing to Bible course next quarter.
