Winter Quarter is in full swing as Stanford students bear down for what typically is the heaviest course load of the academic year. Out from that lively rhythm we are calling our emerging group of freshmen to press in deeper with God and with one another as Christian Union Caritas -- Christian Union's ministry to the students at Stanford -- continues its first year. One of those freshmen, Isaiah, shares his experience so far:
When I arrived at Stanford in September, I had no idea that my greatest development would be in my own spiritual growth as a Christian. Surrounded by peers who constantly push to expand our spiritual knowledge, and adult leaders who devote so much of their time towards assisting us on our Christian walks, Christian Union Caritas has helped me thrive here in California. In just a matter of weeks, I have heavily deepened my understanding of Christian theology while also growing closer with God. I pray that this organization continues to grow here at Stanford so that many more individuals can get to truly know God.
We are grateful to God, and praise Him for the following:
- Our first annual Winter Conference/Ski Trip was a great success. We had six freshman guys join us in Mammoth Lakes, California, for a long weekend of skiing, group building, and faith deepening.
- Last month we challenged four freshmen to prayerfully consider making a commitment to being part of a student Executive Leadership team. Each of the four have responded positively, and are eager to serve their peers in this way!
- Our Winter Quarter Bible course launched this month. We are leading our freshmen guys through the seminal Christian Union Caritas material, A Seeking God Lifestyle. Pray for an increase of our group, and an increase in their faith as we seek God together over the next several weeks.
- Over the remaining months of this school year, our student team will begin the process of seeking recognition as a student organization. Please pray for open doors and healthy interaction with the school administration, along with the other student groups and campus ministries.
- Pray for wisdom and humility on behalf of the Christian Union Caritas staff in Palo Alto, Ministry Director Garrett Brown and Ministry Fellow Justin Woyak. Pray for their thirst for God’s Word, and a keen sense of how to shepherd the students they have been called to serve.
- Please pray for opportunities to invite young women at Stanford to participate in their own Bible Course this year. Pray for the right leadership to come alongside our current team and to connect with and teach these young women.
God’s grace,
Garrett Brown
