Greetings from Stanford!
On September 17, over 1,700 freshmen will begin their Stanford career. For many of them, it will be the most significant transition thus far in their lives. Please join us in praying that the body of Christ at Stanford will make a loving impact on every single one of these freshmen in the weeks and months to come!
In our efforts to welcome those freshmen “as Christ has welcomed [us], for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7), students in Christian Union Caritas will pray for each member of the freshmen class by name, hand out welcome gifts and invitations, put on a whole schedule of events to help freshmen get to know us and each other as well as to feel at home in our ministry, and execute whatever other creative initiatives they can think of to befriend these freshmen.
We need your help in prayer! Only God can draw these freshmen to Himself and unite them to His body on Stanford’s campus! And we ask that you pray for God to do just that through the efforts of his people at Stanford.
Would you pray:
- For freshmen, that many would connect with us through tabling, giveaways, flyers, social media, word of mouth, personal invitations, events, and more, so that students can find Christian community right at the start of their time at Stanford.
- For our students and student leaders–that they would not tire of doing good in serving others, and that they would see much fruit for God’s glory and the good of others through their efforts. May God give strength and joy!
- For God to raise up new student leaders from among this freshmen class to be powerful voices and examples for the gospel among their peers!
Lastly, I'd like to share with you that Marcus Preciado stopped serving at Christian Union Caritas on August 31st, but has worked diligently to ensure the continued success of this ministry and a smooth leadership transition. Christian Union and CU Caritas students are grateful for Marcus' service to Jesus, the students, the alumni, and the organization during his time at CU.
We are proud that Marcus helped us end the previous academic year with Christian Union Caritas achieving 272 hours of student prayer, 8,055 gospel exposures, and four involved new believers. We also exceeded our goal of students owning areas of responsibility within the ministry, finishing at 113%. We are grateful to God for Christian Union Caritas' growing success and are thankful we are already seeing more advancements for the Kingdom of God in this new academic year at Stanford!
Thank you for your support. Your giving changes the lives of students.
In Christ,
Justin Woyak
