Stephen Meyer's New Book Makes the Case for a Theistic Perspective
The idea that science and religion are diametrically opposed fields of thinking is a modern idea. It's an idea that Stephen Meyer addresses head-on in his new book The Return of the God Hypothesis.
Meyer's book explores the rise of modern science, the scientific revolution of the 16th and 17th centuries, and how the Judeo-Christian influence in science faded from view during the 19th century with the arrival of Darwinian and Marxist theories. However, since the 1920s, three crucial discoveries have been made that reintroduce a theistic perspective of creation into the realm of science in an important way.

The second is that the universe has been finely tuned for the possibility of life from the beginning. The third is that there have been huge bursts of information into our biosphere since the beginning of the universe. These discoveries have thrust the “God hypothesis” back into the conversation as a viable explanation for the creation of the universe, not only because they point to intelligent design, but also point to a “designing intelligence that has attributes theists have long ascribed to God like transcendence, intelligence, and activity in the created order.”
