In the past six weeks more than 630 students graduated from our university ministries to pursue graduate school or enter the workplace. From our first ministry at Princeton to our most recent at Stanford, and including our graduate ministry at Harvard Law school these young men and women are in the midst of exciting transitions - most of them into the workplace.
In New York and Washington, DC we’re excited to welcome them to the city - helping them find and engage the vibrant community of believers that make up these extraordinary cities, facilitating a thoughtful engagement of their work and faith, and understanding what the Christian faith has to say about crowded, diverse and busy cities and our place in them.
These graduates are working in finance, the arts, education, law, media, technology, consulting, engineering, entertainment, and medicine - to name just some of the vocations. It is more than encouraging - it’s stimulating to anticipate and help them toward being redemptive in these spaces. These men and women join so many others who have gone before them in these industries, companies and institutions to be salt and light - and it is an enormous endeavor in which the church in every place engages.
This summer is busy with making points of connection in New York and DC for these graduates - opportunities for them to connect with other recent grads as well as other young professionals. It encompasses making connections to local churches, Bible studies and mentoring relationships. And the end of the summer involves introducing them to our key industry networks; networks are our key vehicle for pursuing transformative change in these cities.
We’re excited for these summer months but even more so for the coming years as we see God do remarkable things in and through the lives of these men and women and those they join. Our cities ought to look remarkably different in the decades to come.
Thank you for your prayers and support, and for your own faithfulness in pursuing your calling.
