Praise be to God! You are making a tremendous difference in the lives of many through your prayers. As we partner together for God’s work in the NY area, Christian Union is focused on prayer. All of our full-time ministry faculty meet every single day, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM-11:00 AM to seek the Lord together. Christian Union has been crying out to God because we recognize that it is not by might, nor by power, but by the Spirit of the Lord that anything impactful and lasting will happen. We are in desperate need of repentance and returning to God together so that God can mend us and heal our land. Your partnership in prayer is increasing the volume of our cries before the Lord and He is answering! We are so grateful for you.
One of the areas we are seeing the move of the Spirit is through one-on-one discipleship and ministry meetings with Christian professionals like yourself. These meetings seem to have a fresh wind of power as we witness God changing, strengthening, equipping, challenging, and calling New Yorkers back into a deep and abiding fellowship with Him. Some new and seasoned believers are walking with us through books of the Bible and holding tightly to it in the midst of cultural shifts from it. Others are eager for prayer ministry and are seeing God’s hand in their lives. Others are growing in zeal to be ambassadors for Jesus as they go about their daily lives and work.
Perhaps some of this increase of the Lord’s presence is from our recently finished 21 days of fasting and prayer with you and other believers from across the nation. God promises in James 4:8 that when we draw near to Him, He will draw near to us! Are you enjoying more of the Lord’s presence in your life? If so, please let us know how. It is such a joy to share in the testimonies of what God is doing in our lives as we seek Him together. If you missed the fast, you can go back and read all the daily devotionals at Christian Union’s Day and Night webpage.
- Please pray that God powerfully overwhelms and meets His people as we humble ourselves before Him at the start of this new year. There is no political solution to the true root of our sin problems. May God have mercy on us and on our country as we seek Him with all of our hearts together!
This month, I ask you to press into the Lord again with the same request. There is no greater need and no more powerful pursuit. For, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere.” (Psalm 84:10) And, “In your presence is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11). There is no greater reward than His presence with all of us as we seek after Him together.
I will leave you with a stout quote from Jonathan Edwards’ A Call to United, Extraordinary Prayer on the critical nature of our Christian unity in our concerted pursuit after God. These united prayer efforts often precede revival.
We may observe, the mode of their union in this duty. It is a visible union, an union by explicit agreement, a joint resolution declared by one to another, being first proposed by some, and readily and expressly followed by others. The inhabitants of one city shall apply themselves to the inhabitants of another, saying, “Let us go.” Those to whom the motion is made, shall comply with it, the proposal shall take with many, it shall be a prevailing, spreading thing; one shall follow another’s example, one and another shall say, I will go also. Some suppose, that those words, I will go also, are to be taken as the words of him that makes the proposal; as much as to say, I do not propose that to you, which I am not willing to do myself. I desire you to go, and I am ready to go with you.
So, brothers and sisters in the Lord, “Let us go” after the Lord wholeheartedly together!!
