Friends,
It’s the end of August, so you know what that means – students are getting ready to head back to campus! This is one of my favorite times of the year. Lots of energy on campus, excitement among the student body, and sense of God’s Spirit working in our midst. Please join us in prayer for the following as the semester begins:
Pre-Retreat 2018
Every year, just before the semester begins, we gather our student leaders together and head to a nearby location for a retreat. It’s a time where we reconnect with God, one another, and plan for the coming Freshman Welcoming Campaign (the four weeks following the beginning of the semester
in which we give everything we have, by God’s empowering, to meet, love, and welcome into our Christian Union community the incoming class of Brown students) and semester/year of ministry. This year we’re headed to Cape Cod from September 1 – 3. Please pray that God would be with us as we catch up and plan, that the Spirit would lead and guide us in everything that we do, and that we would be full of his strength as we leave that place and head back to campus to love freshmen in the name of Jesus.
Freshman Welcoming Campaign
Tied to the above prayer request, please pray for our Freshman Welcoming Campaign during the month of September leading up to our Fall Retreat from October 5 – 7. Pray that the upperclassmen who are welcoming the first-year students would have endurance to run this exhausting race well. Pray that God would lead freshmen to us, and us to them. Pray that God’s Spirit would already be at work in their hearts, that those who don’t yet know Jesus would be ready to receive the hope of the gospel, and that those who already follow Jesus would seek out Christian community as soon as they get on campus. Pray that something bigger than all we can ask or imagine would happen right before our very eyes, so that our God would receive all the praise, glory, and honor due His name and that these incoming Brown students would have life to the fullest!
Thank you for your prayers and support. I promise to have many stories of God’s work in the emails ahead. Until then, may the God who grants new and eternal life be with you as you seek to guide your family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to him!
In Christ,
