We praise God for partners like you in supporting the work He is doing through Christian Union Lumine at Columbia. The students have reached the halfway point of the semester and are finishing up their midterms. It’s truly hard to believe how fast this semester is going!
We are encouraged by the students involved in CU Lumine whether it be our Bible courses as we study the book of Philippians, Illumina (LLS) events, outreach events, or times of prayer. We see God’s transforming hand at work in their lives as He grows them into His image.
Our Seeking God team has launched small groups this semester. These are groups of 2-3 students that meet weekly to pray and go through hand-picked devotionals by the ministry team leaders. The theme for small groups this semester is sanctification. We are praying that these times would be times of confession, repentance, and a pursuit of Jesus and His glory.
I am encouraged to see the Ministry Center filled every week with students seeking God in prayer, having spontaneous times of worship and prayer, scripture reading, and of course times of great conversations.
One of those conversations was with a freshman who shared with me that when he moved to NYC for Columbia he was scared of moving to a new city and starting in a rigorous institution. But when he walked into the Ministry Center and struck up a conversation with other students, he felt like he was home. The relationships he built in his first few weeks at Christian Union have anchored him in his walk with Christ.
From the first week of class, I can sense a hunger in the hearts of the students for fellowship and for more of God. This hunger has also produced some very fruitful conversations during our one-on-one discipleship time.
As we turn the corner on the fall semester, please join us in praying for:
- One-on-one discipleship: Pray for deep, meaningful conversations with students. Pray for those that are struggling in their faith and for those that seek to grow in their walk with God. Pray that God would use these one-on-one times to strengthen and grow individuals.
- Student leaders: Pray that God would give them strength and wisdom as they lead this ministry and take on new responsibilities this fall.
- Spiritual hunger and thirst: Pray that the students would have a deep hunger for the things of God: prayer, worship, Christian community, reading Scripture.
- Raising up new financial partners: We know that we can’t do this ministry without supporters like you. Join us in praying that God would bring new Christ-minded friends of this ministry to help rebuild CU Lumine at Columbia through their financial support.
Thank you for your love and partnership at CU Lumine. We could not do this without your prayers.
