"The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
- Philippians 4:6-7
There is no escaping the pressure that most experience at the end of a semester. One by one our Harvard friends are finishing up and departing campus. Many will head home to happily hibernate until the end of January when classes resume.
While it is so easy for us to get tangled up in the web of our selfish ambitions and succumb to the spell that is cast by idolatrous pursuits, many of our students have been consciously and intentionally aiming much higher. Since Thanksgiving they have prioritized worship, finishing bible studies, befriending members in other classes for the sole purpose of encouraging new friends, and have engaged in outreach by participating in another round of “text for toasties” or a conversation on the street.
Prayer Requests
Please pray for various reading projects that will take place over winter break. It’s a rare time for students to step off the fast-track for sure, but to also—ideally—make time in their leisure for the literal or proverbial stack of books that have collected dust on the nightstand.
CU staff and students are eager to welcome a teaching fellow to our team in 2020! Please pray for Whitney Gamble as she begins serving with us after the holidays. Whitney earned her PhD at the University of Edinburgh and has most recently served as the Associate Professor of Biblical & Theological Studies at Providence Christian College. Her call to work with students is undeniable. Christmas has arrived a little early for us this year.
As always, we deeply value your prayers and your partnership.
In Christ,
Don Weiss
