As the chair of our new Christian Union New York board recently put it, our intercession is like a battering ram that pounds on the doors of the kingdom of darkness until they are breached. There is a great battle around the world, as we all currently witness, and in New York City where we are called to stand in the evil day and pray! The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working. -James 5:16
As the darkness increases around us, the Light must also increase. Christian Union New York calls all committed followers of Jesus to stand in the authority given to us by the Spirit of the Living God and battle against the spiritual rulers, authorities, cosmic powers over this present darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. The things we witness in the natural realm are merely manifestations of what is warring in the spiritual realm. That is the realm in which we have the authority and the mandate to slay the darkness and win. Let us arise and take the victory.
- Pray for NYC pastor and 12-year City Councilman Fernando Cabrera and his family. Fernando was just appointed by Mayor Eric Adams as his Senior Faith Advisor. This is cause for rejoicing as Fernando is a faithful man of God and a long-time friend and co-laborer with Christian Union. He, and two other faithful men of God, have come under significant persecution and attack for standing firm on biblical sexual and family ethics. This is a blatant attempt to cancel them and remove them from the mayor’s ear. Please also pray for Fernando's physical protection and for his family.
- This week there is a “Clergy United for Religious Freedom” assembly on the steps of City Hall. These three godly men, all new appointees of Mayor Eric Adams, who will not cave to the unbiblical ideology of the day, have all come under protest and persecution. Many will gather to pray for the new mayor, his appointments, their protection, and religious freedom.
- Pray that God will expose those in the churches of NYC and beyond who pose as shepherds of the flock of Jesus, but are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Jesus makes clear that we shall know them by their fruits; demonstrated in unbiblical doctrine, character, and behavior. Matthew 7 is an eye-opening reminder of how much Jesus, the Good Shepherd, loves His flock and to what length He will go to protect her.
- In NYC and amidst grievous global conflict, pray that the Light will increase and displace the current darkness. Insist in the power of the Holy Spirit, that Truth replaces the deceptive and destructive work of the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Our God speaks the greater word!
Breakthrough is around the corner! Let us keep pushing the battering ram of our intercession until the darkness is overcome.
Warmly,
Karen Hetzler
