A-Case-for-Confident-Pluralism-CUWith all the contestation surrounding religious freedom and difference in beliefs, there are certainly times where we might think that the world would be better without such conflicts, or any differences for that matter. But differences are what enrich our lives, sharpen our minds, and expand our creativity.

Theologian: Male-Female Relationship Is Foundational

by Catherine Elvy, Staff Writer

Dr.-GagnonTheologian Robert Gagnon has been the subject of both praise and contempt for his stance equating homosexual acts with sin.

The notoriety followed his appearances and prolific writings across myriad media, where the Dartmouth College alumnus of 1981 unabashedly declared that God designed men and women to complement one another and join together to form a whole.

"The twoness of the sexes is the foundation for the twoness of the sexual bond," said Gagnon during a recent lecture.

At its core, a male-female relationship is a prerequisite for a godly sexual union.

Greetings from New York!

During the past century it has been an interesting development where the celebration of Christmas has taken on greater social and cultural significance.  Historically the church has elevated Easter, or Resurrection Sunday, as the more defining event to mark.  The death of Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of humanity, and His subsequent resurrection overcoming death and the power of Satan are defining factors in the uniqueness of the Christian faith.  It resolves the overwhelming problem of the human condition and it points to a future where all is made whole.  I hope this has been a remarkable season of hope and renewal for you.

And after reading that an estimated 18 percent of Yale undergraduates reported an undesired sexual encounter involving force or incapacitation, this member of Christian Union's ministry at Yale knew it was a problem he wanted to address.
