Ministries

Dear CU Libertas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We continue to give thanks for our partners who, through their prayers and financial support, make the work here at Brown possible. We are rapidly approaching mid-semester in the academic calendar and students will be enjoying spring break later this month.

Dear CU Lumine Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from New York City!

We praise God for partners like you who are supporting the work He is doing through Christian Union Lumine at Columbia. The students have reached the halfway point of the semester and will be facing midterms soon!

Dear CU Vox Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

“You stayed up late to finish a paper so now you’re relying on caffeine to make it through the day. You’re stressed but professors keep piling on the schoolwork. Like some mutant academic hydra, every time you cut down an assignment, two more grow in its place.” These are the opening lines to an article by Andy Cimbala published recently on The Gospel Coalition website. This is a great encapsulation of how most Dartmouth students are feeling. The winter term is ending which means that finals, spring break plans, internship applications, and more are on the minds of our students. Burnout and exhaustion are a daily struggle but we are not without hope. Our identity is not rooted in our performance nor our capacity but in God who calls us His sons and daughters. This truth doesn’t make the work disappear, but it does give us the strength to endure. As spring break approaches, join me in thanking God for another term filled with Bible courses, worship, evangelism, discipleship, relationship building, and prayer. Here are two specific requests and a praise:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” - Paul to the Church in Rome (Rom 15:13 ESV)

Dear CU Gloria Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Cambridge!

Dear CU Nova Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Let “every valley be lifted up and every mountain and hill be made low” that the glory of the Lord may be revealed (Is 40:4)!

The world may be distracted by matters related to Covid, and restrictions may limit student interaction in many ways, but the glory of the Lord is being revealed within Christian Union Nova as we kick off a new semester!

Hello CU Caritas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Happy New Year from Palo Alto!

Greetings from Palo Alto! We’ve reached the halfway point of the academic year and winter quarter, which means we wrapped up our study of Philippians last week and are embarking on a mammoth study of Romans in the weeks ahead. According to Martin Luther, in his preface to Romans, all the most important truths in the universe will be laid out before us:

Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We’re back into the swing of things at Penn and the main focus is leadership. 1 Timothy 3:1-2 states, “The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach…”

This semester is a significant time for our students as we are seeing the fulfillment of 1 Timothy 3:1-2 happen before our eyes as we prepare for a “change of the guard” with our student ministry team leaders (MTL’s) and assistant Bible course leaders (ABCLs). We have big shoes to fill as many of our current leaders are graduating seniors this year. However, this provides a great opportunity for aspiring leaders to rise to the occasion to lead next.

Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Loneliness at Yale is an enemy of wellbeing, even for those who enjoy solitude. In a recent Yale Daily News article, Sharla Moody, a senior in Berkeley College and one of our talented leaders, narrates how loneliness clouded her student experience at the college of her dreams. That’s because even at Yale, nothing is more valuable than satisfying the human longing for loving and life-giving relationships. We are all made to experience and enjoy fellowship with God and each other.

Dear Christian Union New York Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Your prayers for Christian Union New York are bearing so much fruit! Christian Union New York is thrilled to announce to you that after many months in the making, CU New York has established its own Advisory Board! Christian Union as a whole has been operating under the guidance and wisdom of a board for many years. But now, as CU New York continues to expand and solidify the means of accomplishing its mission (including one day expanding into other major cities), Christian Union leadership has determined that it was time to establish this localized board. This board will help advise, multiply the hands and feet, talents, areas of expertise, experience, and networking connections of CU New York.

Dear CU Libertas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Providence! The spring semester is underway as students began the spring semester on January 26th. Covid continues to wreak havoc in the northeast, especially here in Rhode Island. Fortunately, students will be attending classes in person and we do not anticipate any disruptions to our ministry calendar. It has been so wonderfully refreshing to greet students as they return to campus, and the time spent praying with them has been a blessing.
