Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We’re now in full swing of our gospel outreach at Penn and we can feel your prayers!

One of our ways to engage students is to set up a table on Locust Walk during times when mass amounts of students are getting out of class and ask them an engaging question. This outreach, pictured below, is a gateway to having conversations about the gospel. Within a span of about three hours, we were able to engage with 67 students in meaningful conversation over donuts and coffee and were given the opportunity to share the gospel with them.

Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Life is a dialogue beyond ourselves, not a monologue in which we create our own story (Psalm 135:15-18). We are co-creators with an eternal Creator, and our well-being depends upon the participation of fellow human beings. To make a contribution and lead the conversation, we first analyze what has been said and how our voices, flowing from the ever-evolving dialogue with God and others, will be heard in the grand scheme of things. We listen and learn with humility and faith before we make our voices heard. That’s how we reach beyond ourselves toward a larger purpose. That’s how we know to live well and make human flourishing possible.

“Today revealed to me even more that (this) is the community that I prayed and cried for when I first came to Christ. Getting to see it in full force today brought me so much joy. So thank you.” - Winter Retreat Evaluation

Dear CU Gloria Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Cambridge!

Dear CU Nova Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Faith is rising at Christian Union Nova as relationships with our Savior are formed and forged through Bible courses and large group fellowships!

CU Nova officially welcomed Mike Vincent as a Ministry Fellow for the spiritual development of young men. With his addition to the team, senior men are engaging the Vocational Prep Bible Course with “ah-ha!” moments of excitement when considering how theology shapes their work and stewardship as they prepare for life beyond Princeton. Junior and sophomore men are digging into Romans and learning to think deeply about the implications of the gospel, the life of faith, and the full purpose of their salvation. Finally, freshmen men are soaking up the need for a Seeking God Lifestyle “like a sponge!” They are hungry for the things of God and eager to seek Him and glorify Him on campus. In effect, the men’s Bible courses have grown numerically and spiritually. Glory to God, He’s answering our prayers!

Hello CU Caritas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We thank God every time we think of you, because of your partnership in the gospel with us! We are so grateful to God for the ways you support us in our endeavor, by God’s grace, to make disciples of Jesus at Stanford.

Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored.
- 2 Thessalonians 3:1

Currently, our team is preparing for a campus-wide campaign to expose students to the gospel in a meaningful way. I, along with the newly appointed student leaders, are praying and strategizing on how to best facilitate this multi-tiered campaign. We know that God’s desire to have the gospel spread across Penn’s campus is greater than our own, and we are simply praying to partner with God in His work. We trust that as we proclaim the gospel it will be met with God’s power and promise (Isaiah 55:8-11).

Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Love never fails and never ends. Unlike the physical and temporal things, love has no expiration date. Even spiritual gifts will pass away because they are temporary provisions of God’s grace. But love never, ever loses its relevance. It remains no matter what. Love is and will always be an attribute of God’s eternal character. It won’t go away, but it can lose its power over us.

Dear CU Libertas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We continue to give thanks for our partners who, through their prayers and financial support, make the work here at Brown possible. We are rapidly approaching mid-semester in the academic calendar and students will be enjoying spring break later this month.

Dear CU Lumine Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from New York City!

We praise God for partners like you who are supporting the work He is doing through Christian Union Lumine at Columbia. The students have reached the halfway point of the semester and will be facing midterms soon!

Dear CU Vox Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

“You stayed up late to finish a paper so now you’re relying on caffeine to make it through the day. You’re stressed but professors keep piling on the schoolwork. Like some mutant academic hydra, every time you cut down an assignment, two more grow in its place.” These are the opening lines to an article by Andy Cimbala published recently on The Gospel Coalition website. This is a great encapsulation of how most Dartmouth students are feeling. The winter term is ending which means that finals, spring break plans, internship applications, and more are on the minds of our students. Burnout and exhaustion are a daily struggle but we are not without hope. Our identity is not rooted in our performance nor our capacity but in God who calls us His sons and daughters. This truth doesn’t make the work disappear, but it does give us the strength to endure. As spring break approaches, join me in thanking God for another term filled with Bible courses, worship, evangelism, discipleship, relationship building, and prayer. Here are two specific requests and a praise:

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” - Paul to the Church in Rome (Rom 15:13 ESV)

Greetings from Cambridge!

Dear CU Nova Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Let “every valley be lifted up and every mountain and hill be made low” that the glory of the Lord may be revealed (Is 40:4)!

The world may be distracted by matters related to Covid, and restrictions may limit student interaction in many ways, but the glory of the Lord is being revealed within Christian Union Nova as we kick off a new semester!

Hello CU Caritas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Happy New Year from Palo Alto!

Greetings from Palo Alto! We’ve reached the halfway point of the academic year and winter quarter, which means we wrapped up our study of Philippians last week and are embarking on a mammoth study of Romans in the weeks ahead. According to Martin Luther, in his preface to Romans, all the most important truths in the universe will be laid out before us:

Dear CU Martus Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

We’re back into the swing of things at Penn and the main focus is leadership. 1 Timothy 3:1-2 states, “The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach…”

This semester is a significant time for our students as we are seeing the fulfillment of 1 Timothy 3:1-2 happen before our eyes as we prepare for a “change of the guard” with our student ministry team leaders (MTL’s) and assistant Bible course leaders (ABCLs). We have big shoes to fill as many of our current leaders are graduating seniors this year. However, this provides a great opportunity for aspiring leaders to rise to the occasion to lead next.

Dear Cornerstone Partners and friends of CU Lux,

Loneliness at Yale is an enemy of wellbeing, even for those who enjoy solitude. In a recent Yale Daily News article, Sharla Moody, a senior in Berkeley College and one of our talented leaders, narrates how loneliness clouded her student experience at the college of her dreams. That’s because even at Yale, nothing is more valuable than satisfying the human longing for loving and life-giving relationships. We are all made to experience and enjoy fellowship with God and each other.

Dear CU Libertas Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Providence! The spring semester is underway as students began the spring semester on January 26th. Covid continues to wreak havoc in the northeast, especially here in Rhode Island. Fortunately, students will be attending classes in person and we do not anticipate any disruptions to our ministry calendar. It has been so wonderfully refreshing to greet students as they return to campus, and the time spent praying with them has been a blessing.

Dear CU Lumine Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings in the matchless name of Jesus! I am thankful for your love and partnership with Christian Union Lumine at Columbia University. Because of your committed giving and prayers, we are seeing students’ lives transformed by the gospel.

Dear CU Vita Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Greetings from Ithaca! The spring semester is getting underway this week. Our students are once again enduring the realities and restrictions of life with Covid. Group gatherings are currently discouraged and while students are on campus, all classes at Cornell are being taken remotely for the first two weeks of the semester. We are, however, hopeful that things will open up soon. We have been holding weekly CU Vita student leadership meetings via Zoom for the past two weeks, and we will meet again this coming Thursday night. We have been reconnecting and praying together, and fine-tuning our plans for the semester ahead, some of which I will describe in the following prayer requests.

Dear CU Vox Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Hello from Hanover! As many of you know, the Dartmouth academic calendar is different than most schools. Winter term classes began on January 4th so we are well underway with life and ministry. The start of a new year and a new term always bring renewed energy and enthusiasm. It’s always a delight to have the campus filled with students and bursting with activity. The rhythms of Bible courses, daily prayer, social events, Leadership Lecture Series, and one-on-one mentorship are well established and are serving to challenge and encourage the students this term. Join me in praying for these items:

Dear CU Nova Cornerstone Partners and friends of the ministry,

Happy New Year! We pray for the peace of Christ to anchor you and your family in living hope with abundant joy as we begin 2022!

With a new year upon us, let us focus our hearts on the greatest sacrifice ever made! “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son” (John 3:16)—what a sacrifice! Together, we rejoice because “He who knew no sin became sin so that we might be the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus” (2 Corinthians 5:21)—oh, what a sacrifice! We unite to praise the Lord because He has “borne our griefs and carried our sorrows” (Isaiah 53:4)—selah, for the sacrifice. We can bless the name of Jesus because He loved us and has given Himself as an offering and a sacrifice (Ephesians 5:1-2)!
