Thank you for your continued prayers on behalf of Christian Union NY! As we are wrapping up our fiscal year, we are reflecting on the goodness of God to our ministry and our city this past year. As fruit from your faithful prayers, we have seen fast growth in the ministry—from establishing a board of directors, to hiring an executive assistant, to expanding CU Fires more than twofold! To God be all praise and glory! We have truly tasted and seen the goodness of the Lord this past year (Psalm 34: 8).

John Piper Podcast Addresses the Question
The relationship between holiness and answered prayer appears throughout Scripture. John 15:7 says, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." Psalm 66 says, "I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer."
Male and Female and the Word of God
Complementarianism, the idea that men and women are not identical, but rather equal and distinct, is a concept we see written throughout Scripture. And as Andrew Wilson argues in this comprehensive article for The Gospel Coalition, it is also written into creation.
The United States Has Been Marked by Spiritual Ebbs and Flows
By Dr. Chuck Hetzler
The light of the gospel has been fading for many years in the western world. America, along with Canada and many western European nations, are often referred to as “post-Christian.” I’ve caught myself using the term as well, but it’s actually a misleading and harmful catchphrase. Referring to America as a “post-Christian nation” reinforces a false narrative about our country’s Christian history and fosters an ungodly perspective that must be renounced.
Young Woman Is Thankful for God's Grace, Providence
By Anne Kerhoulas, Staff Writer
“You don’t know what it’s like to leave everything behind to follow Christ until you have to do it. Everything can change. Everything can change in a day. That’s why you need a relationship with Jesus. So you can be sure of him when everything else goes away.”
Scholar Clearly Defines Popular Phrase
There’s been a lot of talk about civil discourse lately—and how we’ve forgotten how to do it. In a recent conversation with Public Discourse, author Teresa Bejan notes that there is a lot of confusion about the meaning of civil discourse. Bejan is a Professor of Political Theory and a Fellow of Oriel College at the University of Oxford.
Jonathan Haidt Shares His Views on Russell Moore Show
Jonathan Haidt thinks things changed in 2014. The NYU professor, psychologist, and author recently wrote a lengthy article for The Atlantic, "Social Media Is Making America Stupid." He has been trying to put his finger on what has been shifting in our culture for the past eight years.
A Steadfast Devotion to Fasting and Prayer
By Justin Yim
And they said to me, “The remnant there in the province who had survived the exile is in great trouble and shame. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates are destroyed by fire.” As soon as I heard these words I sat down and wept and mourned for days, and I continued fasting and praying before the God of heaven. - Nehemiah 1:3-4 (emphasis added)

The Call to Worship
When it comes to the arts, creativity, and beauty, most people gravitate toward different disciplines. Whether it's poetry or painting or playing guitar or cultivating a garden, each person pursues their own interests and talents. But in Scripture, everyone is commanded to sing.
Are You a Chronological Snob?
It’s easy to look back on the generations who have gone before us and think, “I’m so glad we've figured things out.” There’s a name for this—chronological snobbery, and unfortunately, it’s a problem for Christians as well.
Greetings from Christian Union Nova!
The days are sunny-bright, and yet quite chilly, as students have begun leaving campus to begin internships and work for the summer. There is a pensive busyness on campus, but also a buoyancy that has in effect made the Melrose Center abuzz while Bible courses end and one-on-one meetings take place to close the year. The personification of resilience and fortitude is at its best!
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit (Romans 8:1-4).
We’re wrapping up the year here at Penn. Seniors are preparing for graduation and transitioning to the workforce or ministry fellowships, while other students are preparing for summer jobs or internships. To close out the year, we connected seniors with alumni resources, concluded our gospel campaign, and conducted our spring formal.
